It has been a busy first quarter in my new role as Chair of the Trust, as we focus on strengthening connections with our whānau. As part of this commitment, we engaged an independent research group to gather your views and identify areas for improvement. It was important to us that this process remained independent, ensuring the insights were genuine and unfiltered.
The response from our whānau was invaluable - nearly 700 pieces of feedback were shared. This whakaaro is like gold to us, providing clear direction on what matters most to you.
Following this, our operational group took time to reflect on what we heard and to identify the actions we need to take to ensure we are meeting expectations. I want to share that action plan with you to ensure we are on point with what you said and our way forward.
Tātau Tātau exists to serve you all - through strong investments, meaningful distributions, and supporting independence. Always hold us accountable and responsible for your settlement, its growth, a future illuminating wellness and prosperity toward our horizon.
In terms of investments, our E Tipu group will be coming back to present a clearer picture of what returns may look like over the coming years. This could span five to ten years and will help outline our major investments and what lies ahead.
When it comes to distributions, we recognise the need to carefully consider what future distributions might look like. This is something we want to explore collaboratively with our whānau.
Independence remains a right that each Kāhui can exercise under our Trust Deed. It is important that each Kāhui carefully considers this in relation to future distributions, activities, and the mahi they have ahead.
I look forward to what this year holds, the next chapter, and to continuing to serve youthrough and with our kāhui, hapū, whānau and marae.
