Together, we will reconnect with the rich culinary traditions of te ao Māori. Over three days you’ll learn about foraging in your local ngahere, rongoā, weaving, preparing and presenting kai Māori — all grounded in whakapapa, whenua, and shared learning.
This is the final wānanga in the national E Kai Māori series that has travelled across Aotearoa. Chef Joe McLeod has been working in restaurants around the world for 50 years. He now works with marae throughout the motu, sharing practical knowledge on how to gather from the forest and create nourishing kai from what is found close to home.
This is a safe, intergenerational learning space open to whānau of all ages. Kaumātua and whānau are especially invited to join us for the community hākari on Sunday. Koha kai for the hākari is welcome, as we celebrate local and seasonal kai.
All meals will be provided at the marae.
