Check out this coverage from Te Karere on the current concerns raised by Tātau Tātau o Te Wairoa.
We are seeking a fair and balanced approach to the six DOC reserves included in the Ngāti Ruapani mai Waikaremoana settlement. These areas hold shared whakapapa and longstanding connections for neighbouring iwi. Our call is for the removal of these reserves from the settlement so that a pathway can be found that recognises the overlapping interests of all.
"We're wanting for those six reserve areas to come out of the settlement bill. We support Ngāti Ruapani in terms of the redress that they're seeking as part of this bill process. What we want is those six reserve blocks to come out and remain non-exclusive so that we can all share as our tipuna did in terms of the ongoing kaitiakitanga" – Pieri Munro, Chairman of Tātau Tātau o Te Wairoa Trust
