E hoki ki tōu maunga kia pūrea ai koe e ngā hau a Tāwhirimātea
Return to your maunga to be refreshed by the winds of Tāwhirimātea
Join us in welcoming these special taonga to Wairoa Museum for the day, to be refreshed by reconnecting to their people and whenua.
In July, two taonga connected to Ngāti Kahungunu o Te Wairoa will be part of an exhibition called He Toi Whakairo. These are a Tuki (carved mouthpiece for a hue/gourd called a tahā huehue) and a Pou whakarae (carved palisade figure).
In order to reconnect and awhi these taonga, we will welcome them to Wairoa Museum on Tuesday 21st July at 2.00pm and farewell them on their journey back to Te Papa on Wednesday 22nd July at 2.30pm.
During the day on Wednesday the taonga will be available for public viewing at the Museum.
We will see you there!
