We are thrilled to share some exciting news about the future of the Wairoa Star and what it means for our community.

First, the good news on the numbers: the Wairoa Star is financially stable and tracking ahead of budget for this period. This is a testament to the hard work of our team and the continued support of our advertisers, readers, and most importantly you, our whānau. Your belief in local media keeps this mahi alive.

But we're not stopping there.

We are entering an exciting new chapter. The Wairoa Star is evolving as part of a growing, community-owned media company with multiple offerings designed to serve Wairoa in ways that go far beyond a printed page.

What does that mean in practice? Alongside the newspaper, we are developing other media offerings. This diversification is intentional. We are building something sustainable a media organisation that can grow with Tātau Tātau and its stakeholders, create local employment, and reflect the full richness of our community back to itself and wider public.

We are recruiting new team members, investing in new equipment, and laying the groundwork for the sustainability of the newspaper one that our whānau can be proud of for generations to come.
